This means that this pattern requires approximately 10 skeins. Working with one pulled strand gives a beautiful, slightly folkier look and requires only half the floss. This design has only full crosses and is pattern keeper compatible.

Stitching tip- always make the first stitch of each cross go in the same direction. For example, since I learned as a teenager, I make my first stitch of the X from bottom left to top right, the second/last stitch is always bottom right to top left. This creates a really nice even sheen across the work when its done.
Table runner with a cross stitched floral design and inscription made by Edna (Yetta) Kwasznik Eckstein, who immigrated to the United States with her young son from Ratno, Russia (Ratne, Ukraine) in 1912. They joined her husband, Sam, who had left Ratno in 1908 and settled in Denver, Colorado. The table runner, embroidered with her American name and a proverb in old fashioned Carpatho-Rusyn, may have been brought with her, but it is likely that it was made in the US.
