RawTherapee is a powerful, cross-platform raw photo processing system, released as Free Software (GPLv3). It is designed for developing raw files from a broad range of digital cameras and targeted at users ranging from enthusiast newcomers who wish to broaden their understanding of how digital imaging works to professional photographers.
Non-destructive, 32-bit (floating point) processing engine, modern demosaicing algorithms, and advanced color+detail editing bring you the best tools to develop images of the highest quality from your raw files (including High Dynamic Range DNG).
RawTherapee gives you best-in-class demosaicing, including using two demosaicing algorithms on the same image, compositing pixel-shift raw files with automatic ghost masking, working with multiple-frame raw files, dark frame subtraction, flat field correction, and hot/dead pixel correction!
We found an issue with the original 5.8 Windows installer, it was missing the Profiled Lens Correction (Lensfun) database, so there is now a new installer which includes this database. If you downloaded RawTherapee 5.8 for Windows previously, please download the new build and re-install.
The Adobe DNG Converter enables you to easily convert camera-specific raw files from supported cameras to a more universal DNG raw file. Another benefit of using the DNG Converter is backward compatibility.
The DNG Converter is now available in your Programs (Windows) or Applications (macOS) directory. The installation utility is designed to also install a set of color profiles required for the DNG Converter to function properly. These profiles are copied to a common resource location.
A raw file contains the "raw" data captured by the digital camera sensor before it has been converted to JPEG or TIFF formats. Cameras that create JPEG or TIFF files process (and in the case of JPEG files, compress) the sensor data. When working with raw files, the file is not compressed or processed in the camera. Instead, software gives the user complete control over the conversion settings. For example, white balance is not applied to the raw file but is stored with the file so the software can default to the originally-intended setting. Other information contained in a DNG file includes standard EXIF metadata (just like in JPEG files), date, time, camera used, and camera settings.
Digital Negative (DNG) is an openly published raw file specification that stores the "raw" pixel data captured by the digital camera sensor before it has been converted to JPEG or TIFF formats, along with standard EXIF metadata, date, time, camera used, and camera settings. This format is freely available for other software and hardware vendors to support.
Unlike most manufacturer-specific raw formats, the Digital Negative is an openly published specification that not only is supported by Adobe, but is also freely available for other software and hardware vendors to support. Consequently, it can be a safer file format to use for long-term archival purposes. Archiving your file as a digital negative eliminates worries that the raw file will no longer be readable once the camera format that created it becomes obsolete.

The effects of the NEF Codec are not reflected when NEF (RAW) images are displayed in the Microsoft Photos application supplied with Windows 8.1 and later.Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Live Photo Gallery, Windows Photo Viewer, and other applications that use the Nikon NEF Codec to display pictures will show the previews embedded in the NEF (RAW) files.
If the RAW partition contains a partition label, you can directly select it from drives list and click "Scan" to look for the lost files. If the RAW partition lost its label, it will be recognized as "Lost Partition", just select the "Lost Partition" and click "Scan" to initiate an overall scan on the RAW drive.
After the scan is completed, all available files in the RAW hard drive will be displayed. View these files and find the files you want to recover. You can sort the scanned data by file format or search directly in the "Search files or folders" box.
After recovering data from RAW partition with EaseUS raw data recovery program, you can continue to fix the RAW HDD, SD card, or USB drive by formatting it in various ways. For example, you can use EaseUS free partition management tool to format the RAW drive to FAT, NTFS, EXT effortlessly.
These terrain files are intended to be used in OpenSim, but may be used for any purpose you choose. The .raw files are in f32 format. All can be scaled vertically after loading using the "terrain multiply", "terrain add", and "terrain rescale" command. The look of these terrains can be changed drastically by rescaling.
The RAW files in the list appear to be unavailable from their original site. Until that site will come back, you can still download archived copies of those files from the WaybackMachine's web archive.More RAW files are available from the Open Source RAW Terrain Textures project. You can submit your Open Source terrains here: OpenTerrains

At the bottom of this page, you can see the results that I came up with for each of the images with the basic image processing that I explain in my book A Beginner's Guide to Astronomical Image Processing. These are the exact same image files used for processing those images.
Please feel free to download the raw files and practice with them even if you have not bought the book. Also, please feel free to post your processing results with my data on your own web page or to various astrophotography web sites and discussion forums. Please include a link back to this page and credit when you do.
All of the image sets are zip compressed. After you download them, you must unzip the zip file to access the raw files. You can usually do this by right clicking on the zip file after it has completely downloaded and selecting "Extract All".
